Even for some experienced coaches, grasping the concepts of the ICF Core Competencies can be a challenge. Coaching models are designed to give us a bird’s eye view of the structure of the coaching conversation, freeing us to be even more present and more connected to our clients.
The PRIME MODEL was created in early 2020 out of my experience leading countless hours of coaching training and mentoring, seeing the need of my students and mentees for an easy, simple and straightforward approach to hold the competencies while still being fully present to their clients. In this model you will be able to observe every ICF Core Competency, but they will come organically and in an uncomplicated way.
The PRIMEplus MODEL came later out of the need to include specific skills expected at PCC and MCC levels. After practicing and integrating the skills of the PRIME MODEL, the coach is invited to consider the inclusion of additional skills that will further enhance their range and scope while interacting with their clients.
While these models were designed primarily for coach training and mentoring, even experienced coaches find it incredibly valuable because of its perspective and simplicity.
